This paddle wheel aerator is a highly efficient aquaculture aeration device. By utilizing a horizontally installed impeller that rotates to agitate the water body, it generates powerful water currents and a profusion of bubbles, thereby significantly increasing the dissolved oxygen content in the water. This device is widely applied in fields such as shrimp farming, eel farming, fish farming, and industrial wastewater treatment.
Core Functions
Efficient Aeration: With a 6-impeller design, it generates powerful water currents, achieving a maximum aeration capacity of ≥2.5 kg O₂/h.
Improves Water Quality: Creates directional water flow to promote water circulation and prevent water quality deterioration.
Increases Aquaculture Density: Sufficient dissolved oxygen enables high-density aquaculture, enhancing economic returns.
Prevents Fish and Shrimp from Surfacing for Air: Effectively avoids the phenomenon of fish and shrimp surfacing and dying due to oxygen deficiency.
Structural Introduction
A paddle wheel aerator is composed of six main components: motor, gearbox, paddle wheel, float, bracket, and housing. The entire unit floats on the water surface. The motor is equipped with a protector.
Component | Material | Characteristics |
Motor | Waterproof copper wire motor | High efficiency and energy-saving |
Gearbox | Arc spur gear | Replaces turbine shaft, saves over 20% of electricity |
Paddle Wheel | PA engineering plastic / PP polypropylene | Corrosion-resistant, aging-resistant, high-strength |
Float | HDPE high-density polyethylene | High buoyancy, UV-resistant, impact-resistant |
Bracket/Main Shaft | 304 stainless steel | Rust-free, corrosion-resistant, long service life |
Frame | Stainless steel frame | Structurally stable, wind and wave resistant |
When the power supply is out of phase, the voltage is abnormal, or the unit is used improperly, it can automatically cut off the power supply to protect the motor from accidental damage.
During operation, the paddle wheel rotates under the drive of the motor. The rotating paddle wheel stirs the water body, forming water flowers and a water film, expanding the contact area between water and air, enabling oxygen to dissolve into the water, and allowing harmful gases contained in the water to escape into the atmosphere, thus improving the water quality of the fish pond.
Operating Conditions
The aerator is used under the following conditions:
Water Depth Conditions: This aerator is suitable for ponds with relatively shallow water depths, with an optimal range of 1.5 meters or less. Some models can be used in water depths not exceeding 2.5 meters. Their oxygenation effect is primarily concentrated in the middle and upper water layers, with limited direct oxygenation of the bottom water layer, making them more suitable for shallow-water aquaculture environments.
Aquaculture Types:
Shrimp and Crab Farming: Such as Pacific white shrimp and river crabs, paddlewheel aerators create directional water flow, which helps concentrate excreta for easier waste removal management while avoiding disturbing the sediment at the pond bottom.
Eel Farming: Their directional water flow characteristic can attract eels to feed while meeting oxygenation needs.
Other Valuable Aquatic Products: Suitable for shallow-water aquaculture species that require specific water flow conditions.
Pond Area and Power Matching:
Small Ponds: A 1.5kW model is suitable for ponds ranging from 1 to 3 acres with a water depth of ≤1.5 meters.
Medium-sized Ponds: A 3kW model is suitable for ponds ranging from 3 to 8 acres with a water depth of ≤2.5 meters.
Large Water Bodies: Multiple units may need to be used in combination, or other types of aerators (such as impeller or micro-pore aerators) may be used in conjunction to meet overall dissolved oxygen requirements.
Water Flow and Waste Collection Needs:
Aerators promote water circulation through directional flow, making them suitable for ponds that require concentrated excreta collection or improved water quality uniformity, especially square or circular intensive culture ponds.
Flexibility in Operation Strategies:
Operation strategies should be adjusted flexibly based on pond conditions, stocking density, and weather changes. For example, during hot seasons or high-density farming, the operating time can be extended or the number of devices increased; enhanced oxygenation is necessary during cloudy or rainy weather or at night to avoid the risk of oxygen deficiency.
